I am proud to call British Columbia my home. I have lived and studied in BC all my life. I have a Bachelor’s of Arts degree with a major in Sociology from the University of British Columbia. My work history is varied but throughout my career I have always come back to focus on working with youth and or First Nations in BC.
I have worked for several non-profit organizations, such as: Pacific Children’s Shelter Society, the Boys’ and Girls’ Club, and the Urban Native Youth Association. I spent 8 years working with at risk youth as a program facilitator and as a youth counsellor.
Since then I have moved on to work for the Federal government in the First Nations and Inuit Health department. I worked on drafting and funding the health programs for First Nations communities in BC. Before the transfer to First Nations Health Authority, I spent 4 years getting to know the challenges and unique needs of First Nations living in remote communities.
I joined North Raven Dental in 2012 with a goal of working with communities to build a consistent, efficient and cost effective approach to dental services in the community. Using a community centered approach, North Raven Dental strives to bring quality services to the community with staff that are culturally knowledgeable about the history of First Nations in BC.
I manage the logistics, finances, and coordinate events for North Raven Dental. My career aspirations are to work towards building North Raven Dental as the elite dental services provider in First Nations communities in BC and improving the health outcomes for all on reserve residents. We hope to develop an infrastructure that encourages other health care providers to see the need and reward of working with and in First Nations communities in BC.
